Health Worker Migration Community of Practice

A nurse at Mutzing District Hospital, Papua New Guinea,
administers a needle to a young child to help stop preventable
diseases. The District hospital was at Tsuai but was relocated to
its present position in 1987 due to flooding. It now serves as
the basic health facility for the people of Markham District
which has an estimated population of about 51,000 people. It has
21 staff (3 Health Extension Officers and No Doctors) and just
over 40 beds. (c) 2006 Steven Nowakowski, Courtesy of Photoshare
