Country Ownership Strategies: Leadership Forum on Health Information Systems

Global Events in Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
Please note that the HIS Forum Website has moved to www.hisforum.org. This community of practice aims to facilitate the dialogue between all stakeholders of national Health Information Systems: ministries, service providers, donors, NGOs, and citizens. It is an important tool for preparing for the Leadership Forum on Health Information Systems and for continuing the collaboration among all parties in the activities following the forum.

Dear colleague

Although I am following the discussions on "why other countries can not be invited and know already that The plan is to hold additional events like this in the future where countries in other regions will be invited" I think that is very important for me to participate in this forum.
There is no HIS in portuguese language contries and I think that Mozambique could be a strong leadership in the process.
Kindly inform if I can participate

Dear Maria Joao,

Thank you or your interest in the HIS Leadership Forum. We wholeheartedly agree that Mozambique can play a strong leadership role in the process of adopting and strengthening a national HIS. For reasons stated earlier in the discussion, we have to limit participation in the forum to the countries mentioned in the announcement. We sincerely hope that you will be able to participate in an upcoming forum that includes your country.

This Forum is the first of several to be held regionally world-wide. Participants in the event are high-level decision-makers who will be designated by the invited institutions, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry responsible for Telecommunications, The National HIV/AIDS Commission (or its equivalent) and/or Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM), Institution responsible for vital statistics and/or census or central statistics, and Military Health Services where appropriate.

Given the country ownership focus of the event, the organizers of the forum cannot extend invitations independently from the institutions mentioned afore.

We hope that you will follow the proceedings from the forum closely on our website at http://my.ibpinitiative.org/HealthInformationSystems. Please contact your national HIS taskforce (to be announced on the website) and get engaged in post-forum activities aiming at strengthening your national HIS.

Sincerely,

HIS Leadership Forum Organizing Committee
